Flower Gardening
Flower gardening is practiced by many people all over the world as a hobby or as a profession. It is a way of enabling one to get close with nature and thus brighten every ones day with their fragrance and beauty. This hobby is very inexpensive as compared to other hobbies and proves to be a very good relaxation route.
Flower gardening is not an easy task and even before you think about starting your own garden you will need to take a number of aspects under consideration. You will firstly need to decide what type of flowers you will be planting in your garden, whether they are to be annuals of perennials. You will also need to make a survey of the soil and climate of your region or area to investigate which types of flower plants will be suitable for your type of garden environment. When you are setting out to plant your flowers you should decide before hand what type of look you want. Mixing a number of different varieties of flowers will give your garden a 'wild flower garden' look while going in for a more systematic layout will give you a meadow look.
The next aspect that needs to be addressed before you can start of planting your flowers is that of the seeds or seedlings. You can purchase seeds of your favorite garden plants from the nearest flower nursery or you can order them online after browsing through the millions of catalogues that are available. The better option is to go for seedlings or saplings of the flower varieties you like as while designing your garden you can place them in the order you like before you finally sink them into the soft earth. With seeds you do not get this and so you will have to just sprinkle the seed and cover with soil and wait for them to sprout before you see the outcome.

After planting your garden the next thought is about the maintenance. Many people think that the maintenance will be too high however this is not true as it has been found that the maintenance of a flower garden is less than what is actually needed to start one. Fertilizers during the spring months and partial cutting of the plants during the fall months will help you ensure that you flowers keep on coming back season after season. You should also try to avoid using artificial fertilizers and work with natural ones like humus and wet kitchen waste like vegetable cuttings etc. Dried leaves and moss can also be used as fertilizers. You should not forget to turn over the soil once you fill in the nutrients as if not done the fertilizer will be washed away when you water your plants the next time.
Flower gardening is a very interesting hobby for the simple reason that it can be done by even a five year old. It only requires patience and hard work so that the rewards are fulfilling and vibrant.
